This is a Facebook group i created because i don´t have time to support all questions i receive regarding my Aluminum Polishing Guide. Instead you can use this group to discuss and help each other. Please use ENGLISH if possible, my polishing guide get lots of international attention wich is great!
I have created two sections. One International and one Swedish. The Group is here: Facebook Polishing Group
You should be able to post pictures/movie to show off your engines or whatever piece of blinged thing you may have made.
“This step-by-step guide will give you a basic understanding of metal finishing via polishing and buffing. Perfect for the do-it-yourself restorer who wants to give his or her vehicle that special, custom touch.
From polishing small trim pieces to valve covers; from an intake manifold to car or motorcycle wheels, this book shows you how!

The comments to this video is from youtube and useful info:
“As was already noted; dust mask or respirator. The abrasives and metal aren’t exactly good for your lungs.
Use treated buff wheels and greaseless compounds for surface prep. MUCH better to follow compound curves, and they do a faster job. Allows you to eliminate the steel-wool step. The compounds come in grits between 120 and 360.”
“As he mentioned, never mix compounds and wheels. Use one wheel per abrasive. Yes, it means you’ll have quite a few (I have about twenty).
Don’t use liquid rouge on a buff wheel, as it doesn’t adhere properly. They’re made for manual application.
On aluminum, I’d go no farther than white rouge. Red rouge is made for soft metals like gold.
Always finish off with a good quality paste polish like Blue Magic, to keep the surface from oxidizing.”
“He should be wearing a respirator for one. Working with aluminum like that is hazardous. He should have de-anodized the aluminum first. All aluminum comes with a protective anodized coating. This is why he had a black build up on the aluminum. Also from using too much rouge. You wind up working twice as hard to get a nice result.”
To help you find the tools you need i have gathered some links to online webshops that sells buffing tools, polishing waxes and polishing tools, Polishing Compound Kit. I hope it will help you find what you need.
The metallic element aluminum is the third most plentiful element in the earth’s crust, comprising 8% of the planet’s soil and rocks (oxygen and silicon make up 47% and 28%, respectively). In nature, aluminum is found only in chemical compounds with other elements such as sulphur, silicon, and oxygen. Pure, metallic aluminum can be economically produced only from aluminum oxide ore.
Metallic aluminum has many properties that make it useful in a wide range of applications. It is lightweight, strong, nonmagnetic, and nontoxic. It conducts heat and electricity and reflects heat and light. It is strong but easily workable, and it retains its strength under extreme cold without becoming brittle. The surface of aluminum quickly oxidizes to form an invisible barrier to corrosion. Furthermore, aluminum can easily and economically be recycled into new products.
Background
Aluminum compounds have proven useful for thousands of years. Around 5000 B.C., Persian potters made their strongest vessels from clay that contained aluminum oxide. Ancient Egyptians and Babylonians used aluminum compounds in fabric dyes, cosmetics, and medicines. However, it was not until the early nineteenth century that aluminum was identified as an element and isolated as a pure metal. The difficulty of extracting aluminum from its natural compounds kept the metal rare for many years; half a century after its discovery, it was still as rare and valuable as silver.
Motorstyling is the shit! *smile*
